SALT LAKE CITY --- The Western Oregon men's basketball team led by double figures at the half, but couldn't hold on and fell to Eastern New Mexico 81-79 on Friday at Behnken Field House.
The Wolves (5-6) led the Greyhounds (9-1) 46-35 at the half, but a 7-0 run by ENMU to open the second half quickly cut the lead to four. WOU built the lead back up to nine at 58-49 after an
AB Gilchrist 3-pointer - but again another Greyhound run, this one 8-0, cut the WOU lead to one at 58-57 with 8:48 remaining.
The lead went back-and-forth with WOU's
Carson Frincke hitting a clutch 3-pointer with 36 seconds remaining to tie the game at 79. But a putback by ENMU with three seconds left gave ENMU the lead for good.
Braydon Olson came off the bench and led the team with 18 points to go along with four assists.
Jadin Penigar had 16 points and five rebounds, Frincke finished with 14 points, Gilchrist added 11 points, five rebound and three assists while
Noah Ogoli had a team-high seven assists to go along with six points.
WOU returns to action Jan. 1 it travels to take on Montana State Billings.
