MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon softball team celebrated its five seniors Saturday and lost to Northwest Nazarene 10-2 and 8-5 at WOU Softball Field.
The Wolves (12-31 overall, 5-11 GNAC) fell behind the Nighthawks (22-20, 10-10) 8-0 before scoring two in the fifth on a
Victoria Zimmerman bases-loaded walk and an
Emma Cordero RBI groundout to make it 8-2. However it's as close as WOU got with NNU scoring two more in the top of the seventh.
In game two, NNU used a four-run second to take an early lead. The Wolves cut the lead to 4-2, 6-4 and 7-5 - but couldn't get any closer.
Aaliyah Gaboriault led WOU at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.
Isabelle Lewis finished 3-for-3 with a run,
Kate Ronning went 2-for-3 with a double, run and RBI and
Maddie Doig went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
WOU travels to take on Montana State Billings in a four-game series starting Thursday.
