LACEY, Wash. --- The Western Oregon baseball team scored 29 runs on 27 hits as it defeated Saint Martin's 12-7 and 15-1 on Friday afternoon at Saints Field to wrap up its 2025 season.
The Wolves (17-26 overall, 13-18 GNAC) finish the season one game back of the third-and-final spot into the GNAC Championships (unoffically two games back since third-place Central Washington owns the head-to-head tiebreaker).
In the first game Friday, WOU scored six runs in the first three innings to take a 6-1 lead before SMU (3-46 overall, 3-29 GNAC) scored three in the fourth to cut the Wolves' lead to 6-4. However, a six-run eighth inning highlighted by a two-run
Randy Stultz double helped WOU pull away for the win.
Stultz finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three RBI and a run to lead WOU.
Owen Bischoff went 4-for-6 with two runs and a stolen base,
Collin Irwin went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs,
Tyler Mohler went 2-for-4 with a run and
Cedric Gatter was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run.
Bryce Bond picked up the win in relief, going 5.1 innings and giving up three runs on four hits with seven strikeotus and a walk.
In the second game, WOU used an eight-run first inning and a six-run third inning to jump out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back.
Mohler led WOU at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, triple, a career-high six RBI (the most by a Wolf this season) and three runs.
John Oleson finished 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and two runs, Irwin was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs, Cedillo was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run,
Zane Garvey finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs and Gatter finished with the odd line of 0-for-0 as he was walked twice, hit by a pitch twice and scored two runs.
Kade Coombe got the win, going four scoreless innings and giving up just one hit while striking out four and walking one.
