DENVER --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team used an early goal by
Ciara Garcia, a late one by
Lillian Mickel and it's second-straight shutout to start the season to beat MSU Denver 20 on Sunday afternoon at The Assembly Athletic Complex.
The Wolves (1-0-1) jumped out to a 1-0 advantage on the Roadrunners (0-1-1) in the ninth minute when Garcia scored on an assist from freshman
Olivia Boger. WOU put the finishing touches on the content in the 86th minute when Mickel found the back of the net.
WOU outshot MSUD 12-8 in the game - including 9-3 on shots on goal.
Bella Lopez picked up her second straight clean sheet - picking up three saves in the effort.
The Wolves play their home opener 2:30 p.m. Thursday when they take on UC Merced.
