MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon baseball team celebrated their seniors playing their final home games before dropping two games to Montana State Billings, 9-1 and 7-1, on Saturday at WOU Baseball Field.
Game 1 - Montana St. Billings 9, Western Oregon 1
The Yellowjackets put the game away early, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding five more over the next eight frames while holding the Wolves to one run on seven hits.
Western Oregon's lone run came in the seventh when Jayger Baldwin grounded out to score a run, making it 8-1. The Wolves threatened in the eighth with three runners aboard but couldn't push across.
Tyler Mohler and Collin Irwin each had two hits to lead the offense. Baldwin, Chris Arce and Benny Nazario each added one.
Game 2 - Montana St. Billings 7, Western Oregon 1
A six-run second inning put the game out of reach before Western Oregon could respond. The Wolves scratched across their only run in the third on an unearned run.
Gunnar Shiotani, Collin Irwin, Benny Nazario and Chris Arce each had a hit. Tyler Mohler drove in the Wolves' lone run.
The Wolves don't play again until April 30 when they close out the season with a four-game series at Saint Martin's.
