BISMARK, N.D. --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team was 65 seconds away from a season-opening win before the University of Mary scored in the 89th minute for a 1-1 draw Thursday at MDU Resources Community Bowl.
The contest was scoreless into the 76th minute when WOU took the lead on a
Kyra DiBenedetto goal assisted by
Charlotte Barton.
WOU held the lead until the Marauders scored at the 88:55 mark to force the draw.
UM outshot the Wolves 14-9 in the match, including 8-3 on shots on goal.
WOU got a strong performance in goal from sophomore
Ayanah Soon as she finished with seven saves.
The Wolves continue their road trip Sunday when they play at No. 12 Colorado School of Mines.
