MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team got a 55th-minute goal from
Kassie Carpenter and its first shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over Chico State on Friday in the Wolves' home opener.
WOU (1-1-1) and the Wildcats (1-2) played a scoreless first half before a free kick by
Grace Townsend was sent into the box where Carpenter fought through for possession and deposited into the top half of the goal to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute.

Nate Ulness' first win as coach.
The Wolves hit the road Sunday to take on Portland State.
