WWU Postgame Quotes: 1/16/14
On the team’s performance…
“I thought we played a really solid first half on offense and defense. We executed offensively, and defensively, we did a really good job on their shooters and control on their posts. Second half was a different story. We had some key people step up. Kelsey Henry had a great game. 17 points, 4 boards. She played all out for every single minute she was in the game, which is huge.”
On lessons to be learned…
“The first half, I can’t say anything. We did a good job. The second half, I don’t think they did anything differently defensively, and we turned the ball over too much. Defensively, we just couldn’t get our hands on balls to rebound and box out. I mean, they had 24 offensive rebounds, and that’s 24 extra opportunities that we didn’t have.”
On the season so far…
“We’re improving. We’re definitely improving, and I feel like we’re starting to kind of figure out who we are—our team identity. We’re starting to accept roles and realize that we want to win for the team versus ‘I want to play.’ I definitely think we’re going in the right direction.”
On the GNAC this year…
“It’s tough. It’s a very tough conference and tough travel. Anybody can win on any night. It’s a battle. It’s going to be a grind from here on out.”
