SFU Postgame Quotes: 1/18/14

On the team’s performance…
“We were sluggish on offense. We didn’t execute as well as I would have liked. Defensively, we did a much better job in the second half, and we played our zone a lot better than we have been playing it, and so that’s what kept us in the game. We just didn’t get it done on the offensive end. We took care of the ball. We had 13 turnovers, so that’s a plus. The last two games, we’ve had 15 or under, but our quality of possession wasn’t there. [We were] shooting 25 percent from the field, and that’s not going to win too many games.”

On key players of the game…
“Dana [Goularte] was pretty solid—getting nearly her average. She played a lot of minutes. Kelsey [Henry] had a big task. She had 6-5 guarding her, and then she also guarded 6-5 but she was still able to get nine rebounds. That’s one thing that we did better than we did in the past games. We had 42 rebounds, and we only average about 38, so that was huge. We got ourselves some extra opportunities. We had 16 offensive rebounds. We just have got to execute our offense.”

On the transition from Thursday’s loss to tonight’s game…
“It’s not so much of a transition from that game to this game. They’re both over now. We have to look ahead, and it’s important that we just don’t let it go and move on. We have to learn from it, so we don’t make the same mistakes for our upcoming games.”
