JUNIOR (2022): ABCA First Team All-Region ... D2CCA First Team All-West Region ... NCBWA Second Team All-West Region ... GNAC Pitcher of the Year ... GNAC Newcomer of the Year ... All-GNAC First Team ... Went 7-2 in 13 starts, posting a 3.18 ERA in 70.2 innings - tallying 52 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .221 battin average ... Allowed two earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 13 starts ... Went at least five innings in 11 of his 13 starts.

PRIOR TO WESTERN OREGON: Alvarez arrives at Western Oregon after transferring from Los Angeles Harbor College. During his time at Los Angeles Harbor College, Alvarez earned First Team All-Conference his first season and was the LA Harbor Cy young Award winner. During the season he posted a 6-2 record on the mound, with a 3.02 ERA in 74 innings of work. He tallied a strong strikeout-to-walk ratio with 66 strikeouts to 21 walks and was undefeated in conference games going 5-0. During the 2020 season, he was a Preseason All-American and went 3-0 on the season with a 3.41 ERA in 34 innings with 30 strikeouts to just 14 walks. He became the first pitcher to go undefeated in conference play under current head coach Marco Avillar. The rest of the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID.

HIGH SCHOOL: Alvarez attended North High School in Torrance, Calif., and is originally from Inglewood, Calif. While at North High, Alvarez played shortstop and third base in addition to being a pitcher. He was named First Team All-Pioneer his senior season, while also earning Utility Player of the Year. During the season he hit .364 with three home runs, three triples, four doubles and 16 RBI. On the mound he went 4-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 44 innings. As a junior, Alvarez earned Second Team All-Pioneer League going 5-2 on the mound with a 3.42 ERA. At the plate he added a .280 batting average with 10 RBI. He helped the team place second in the Pioneer League standings and advanced to the third round of the CIF Playoffs. In addition to baseball, Alvarez also played football his freshman season.
