Mike McInerney is entering his eighth year as the pitching coach for the Western Oregon baseball program. Since his arrival in 2012, McInerney has helped lead the Wolves to five GNAC Titles and a 127-47 conference record. In four of the past six seasons WOU has produced the GNAC Pitcher of the year.
In 2012 Grady Wood, a 10th-round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners, captured the award. Wood was also named the NCAA Division II Pitcher of the Year for his efforts. In 2013 A.J. Burke was recognized as the conference’s best pitcher before being drafted in the 31st round. Jesse Pratt received the honor in 2015 along with second team Daktronics All-West Region. Brady Miller took home the award in 2016 before signing in the 23rd round with the Chicago Cubs the following year.
In his short time at WOU, McInerney has instructed five MLB draft picks, one All-American, six All-region pitchers, and 21 All-Conference selections.
McInerney has been the lead assistant for the Wolves for the past five seasons and was recently promoted to Associate Head Coach this past winter.
Prior to joining the Wolves staff, McInerney spent two years as an assistant with his alma-mater, Missouri Western State University. Most recently McInerney was the camp director with Grand Slam, Inc., and spent two seasons as an assistant baseball coach at Churchill High School in Eugene, Ore. He has also spent time coaching with the Wilson Post 20 Dirtbags and the Springfield Titans, both AAA American Legion teams.
McInerney played collegiately at Lassen Community College and Missouri Western University. While at Missouri Western he helped lead the program to its first regional appearance in school history and graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2007.
Mike currently resides in Monmouth, Oregon with his wife, Dorothy. The couple was married in August 2012 and have a beautiful four-year old daughter, Ireland.
