Miles Kizer

Miles Kizer is entering his seventh season as an assistant coach with the Western Oregon University baseball program.  He has helped lead the Wolves to five Great Northwest Athletic Conference titles in six seasons. 

Kizer assists with all aspects of the WOU program, including instruction during practice and games, setting up practices, recruiting, running camps and setting up the teams travel. On the field Kizer primarily works with the team’s catchers and hitters. He has led a catcher to an All-GNAC honor in five of his six seasons with the Wolves, including helping Justin Wakem to a 2nd Team All-West Region honor in 2017. There has also been two Wolves’ catchers to sign professional contracts in Kizer's time at WOU. 

During the summer Kizer has coached the Post 20 Dirtbags, a AAA American Legion team in Dallas/West Salem. After being an assistant coach in 2012 he took over as the head coach in 2013, leading the team to its first state tournament appearance. In his four summers as the head coach the Dirtbags, the team has appeared in four state tournaments with a runner-up finish in 2017 and two other top-three finishes. He was also an assistant in the West Coast League with the Wenatchee Applesox in 2015 and will lead the Alaska Goldpanners for the 2018 summer.  
 
Kizer played collegiately at Glendale CC (Ariz.), University of Washington and Western Oregon University. At GCC, Kizer was a standout in both football and baseball. Kizer’s sophomore year he was selected to the NJCAA DII All-American 1st team as a catcher while helping Glendale to consecutive postseason births. He transferred to UW for his junior season before playing for the Wolves as a senior.

Kizer graduated from WOU with a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. He currently resides in Monmouth, Oregon, with his wife, Christina.
