Sam Kirby returns for his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Wolves specializing in working with the catchers. Last season, Kirby helped Garrett Breda become a two-time GNAC all-conference catcher, and in the previous season he instructed Taylor Mieras to the honor.
Prior to coming to WOU, Kirby spent the past three spring seasons as an assistant coach at Lane CC in Eugene, where he also played collegiately, helping to lead the Titans to the NWAACC title in 2004. He earned all-league honors on the field while at Lane.
A 2000 graduate of Redmond High School, Kirby was a three-time All-Intermountain Conference selection and a four-year starter for the Panthers. This coming summer, he will manage the Niagra Power in the NYCBL.
