Biography

SENIOR (2021)

Named All-Region and GNAC Pitcher of the Year following a 6-0 record on the mound in 49 innings, holding a 3.31 ERA and 35 strikeouts to just 13 walks. Following a three inning outing to start the season against Saint Martin’s, Peterson went at least five innings in seven straight starts. He tossed an eight inning gem, allowing just one hit with nine strikeouts in the win over Saint Martin’s. At one point during the season, Peterson won six straight starts that began with a win at Central Washington. He then added wins against Montana State Billings, Saint Martin’s, Northwest Nazarene, then defeated both the Yellowjackets and Saints again during the stretch. Peterson pitched six innings in the NCAA West Regional against the Nighthawks, including a 5.2 inning start allowing just one earned run.



JUNIOR (2020)
Peterson saw action in three games (all starts) during the shortened 2020 season. He made his WOU debut at Fresno Pacific logging 4.2 innings and allowing two earned runs. He came back with a dominating start and win against MSU Billings in his next start going eight innings and allowing just one earned run. He tallied three strikeouts and threw just 80 pitches. He closed the season logging 4.1 innings at Central Washington tallying five strikeouts. For the season he tossed 17 innings, allowed eight earned runs and had nine strikeouts to just four walks.

PREVIOUS SCHOOL
Peterson arrives from Walla Walla Community College and also played summer ball for the Walla Walla Sweets.

During his first season at Walla Walla, Peterson pitched in 13 games, collecting 23 strikeouts and walked just eight batters in 33.2 innings. He held opponents to a .238 average.

In his sophomore season, Peterson played in 11 games, all starts on the mound, collecting five wins in 67 innings of work. He posted 69 strikeouts and walked just 15. He went seven innings and allowed just one run against Mt Hood and later in the season went all nine innings and allowed just two runs in a 5-2 win over Blue Mountain.

While pitching for the Sweets, he was named West Coast League Pitcher of the Week for July 30-August 5 putting together an impressive outing in his first start since the beginning of the season as he tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit, a walk and struckout nine in picking up the victory over the Kelowna Falcons in the 2-0 victory.
