Benjamin Kaufman

Benjamin Kaufman enters his third year as an assistant coach with the WOU men’s basketball program after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Ill. 

Kaufman assists with all facets of the Wolves men's basketball program and serves with a primary responsibility of perimeter player development. In addition, he assists with the evaluation and recruitment of potential student-athletes, prepares scouting reports and game plans, serves as the camp, clinic and fundraising coordinator and is the academic coordinator for the program.

“Benjamin has been an excellent addition to our staff,” Bergeson said. "He is a competent young coach who is passionate about the game.”

While at Oakton, Kaufman served as an assistant coach and video coordinator for two seasons. He assisted in all aspects of the program, including game plans, scouting reports, recruiting and practices.  His primary focus at Oakton was to serve as the team's defensive coordinator.

Prior to arriving at Oakton, Kaufman served as varsity assistant coach for the boy’s basketball team at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Ill., for three seasons. During his tenure, the team went a combined 57-27, winning a regional title during the 2009-10 season.

His additional coaching experience includes working with Full Package Athletics, Inc., where Kaufman served as an advanced skill trainer and head coach for Under-16 AAU and Under-17AAU teams.

Kaufman attended the University of Iowa where he earned his bachelor’s degree with honors, double majoring in finance and economics.  In addition, he spent seven years as a financial analyst for Quill Corporation, Inc., a subsidiary of Staples, Inc.
