AS A JUNIOR (2008-09)
Outdoor: Ran in three meets for the Wolves…Had a season-best time of 2:17.19 in the 800m…Ran a season-best mark of 9:57.72 in the 3000m steeplechase at the Pacific Luau Meet.  Indoor: Placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:59.88 at the GNAC Indoor Championships.  Cross Country: Ran in the last five races of the season for the Wolves…Recorded three top 25 finishes…Season-best finish came at the Grass Course Meet when he placed seventh with a time of 23:05.73…Other top 25 finishes came at the GNAC Championships (18th) and the Pacific Lutheran Invite (24th)…Registered qualifying times for team scores in three of five races.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2007-08)
Cross Country: Selected to the All-NCAA West Region team as he placed ninth with a 30:59.7…Led the Wolves at the GNAC championships with a sixth place finish in the time of 25:33.92 as the team finished second…Helped lead the Wolves to a fourth place finish at the NCAA West Regional...Finished seventh at the Saint Martin's Invite with a 26:45…Placed sixth at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational with a 25:36…Selected as the Wolves co-MVP.

AS A FRESHMAN (2006)
One of two Wolves to run in every meet in the 2006 season…Had his best performance at Pacific Lutheran where he placed second overall and was WOU’s top runner…Ran 21:42.46 at the University of Portland meet to claim 37th place overall and second for WOU…Placed ninth at the St. Martin’s meet (third place for Western)…Legged out 17th place for the GNAC Conference meet, second for the squad…Claimed 54th place (fourth for the Wolves) at the NCAA Regionals…Had WOU’s third fastest mark on the track in the 1500 with a time of 4:04.59.

PRIOR TO WOU
Four year track letterwinner at Bellarmine Preparatory School, three year letterwinner in cross country for the Lions…Two-time team MVP in cross country...Finished fifth in conference cross country championships.

PERSONAL
Born in Tacoma, Wash., 1988…Business and Accounting major, Sports Management minor…Wants to become a Certified Public Accountant…Parents are Tammy Bernsten and Bill Thompson of Tacoma, Wash….Mike has a younger brother, Chris (18).
