Abigail Farler

Farler is in her third season as the assistant softball coach.

At WOU, she helped coach the team to the NCAA Division II West Regionals after winning the GNAC regular season and tournament titles in 2014. Farler has helped coach pitchers, such as Kelli Demianew, who earned NFCA NCAA Division II West Region Second Team as well as All-GNAC First Team honors in 2014.

The Monmouth, Ore., native joined the Wolves after serving as an assistant softball coach with Colorado School of Mines, helping lead the team to a school-record 40 wins in 2013. During her time with the Orediggers, Farler coached one of the top pitching staffs in the nation as Kelly Unkrich earned NFCA first-team All-American honors under her guidance. The Orediggers finished the regular season ranked No. 11 in the national polls while advancing to the NCAA Softball Championships.

In addition to her role with the Orediggers, Farler also served as a pitching instructor with Slammers Baseball. Her duties with the organization included teaching students the proper pitching mechanics for fast-pitch softball while running pitching clinics for all levels of softball players.

Prior to her time in Colorado, she spent five years running her own pitching clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz. Farler provided area athletes one-on-one instruction while serving as an instructor at various clinics in the area. She also served as an assistant to the Chaparral High School varsity softball team as well as the Saguaro High School varsity team.

Farler entered the coaching ranks following a standout pitching career at Marshall University followed by a stint in professional softball with the Utrecht Centrals in the Netherlands. While with the Thundering Herd, Farler was named to the Conference USA all-league squad and was a two-year captain with the squad.

A member of the Dean's List, Farler graduated from Marshall with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2007. The former Abigail Harter, whose parents Jim and Mary Harter are both graduates of WOU, is married to her husband, Matt Farler, and they have a daughter, Aubrey.
