Amanda Nelson, a former WOU soccer player and team captain, returns to her alma mater as the goalkeeper coach for the 2020-21 season.
Nelson logged 13 games in goal that included 11 starts during the 2005 season. She picked up five of the teams eight wins that season, collecting 52 saves and three shutouts (one combined). In 2004, Nelson started 15 games all in goal, picking up five more wins and added a pair of shutouts. Nelson saw action in seven games in net during the 2003 season, picking up a win. She began her Wolves career in 2002 seeing action as a true freshman with five games in goal. She recorded a win and four saves.
Nelson went on to receive her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Health with a Sports Leadership minor. She was also involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Nelson began her coaching career in 2001 serving as the coach of the Milwaukie Soccer Club. Following her playing career, Nelson served as the assistant coach and goalkeeper coach at West Salem in 2006. During that same time she was also the assistant coach and goalkeeper coach for the Cascade Futbol Club. Nelson returned to Milwaukie to serve three different stints as the assistant coach and goalkeeper coach in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Other stops have included Oregon City, Oregon Soccer Club, Newberg and at Eastside Timbers and Thorns FC. Nelson continues to serve as the coach of the 18 Yards Soccer Camps that she began in 2017.
