Kaiao Nahale-a

Kaiao Nahale-a enters his fourth year as the Western Oregon women's volleyball head coach in 2025.

For the third-straight year, Nahale-a guided the Wolves to an improved record in 2024 - going 15-12 overall for the most wins in a season for WOU since 2012. The seven conference wins were the most since 2016.

A key win came at Alaska Anchorage on Sept. 28, 2024 - the Wolves' first win against the Seawolves since 2012 (a streak of 21 matches).


In terms of individual awards under Nahale-a, Madison Hornback earned All-GNAC First Team honors in 2023 and 2024, Bailee Hartsook earned All-GNAC First Team honors in 2022 and All-GNAC Honorable Mention in 2024, Maela Honma was named the GNAC Freshman of the Year in 2024 and Delaney Smith was named honorable mention in 2022.

Most recently, Nahale-a was the interim head coach at Lewis & Clark. He spent five years as the assistant volleyball coach at Concordia-Portland, each season reaching double digits in wins. He also spent time in the GNAC as an assistant coach at Saint Martin's.

Nahale-a is the former high school head coach at Beaverton High School where he was named league co-coach of the year in 2015 after leading the Beavers to the state tournament for the first time since 2004. The founder of Live Aloha Volleyball Academy, Nahale-a coached youth/high school volleyball with Guy Enriques Volleyball Team Camps. He competed in varsity volleyball and graduated from Kamehameha Schools in 2010, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Concordia in 2015.
