Josh Reber enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Western Oregon men’s basketball program in 2018-19. Reber’s responsibilities include scouting, recruiting, player development and academics. During the summer, Reber also serves as camp director for both of the team camps hosted by the men’s program.
 
Prior to Western Oregon, Reber served as assistant coach at Oakland High School (Oakland, Ore.) under current head coach Jeff Clark, where he helped lead the program to back-to-back state title game appearances. Oakland captured the state championship in 2013 and were runners-up in 2014. Over his two seasons with the program, the team went 47-11 with a .810 win percentage. Reber’s duties on staff included day-to-day practice and game planning, game scouting, player development and statistical analysis.
 
Before beginning his coaching career, Reber walked on at Umpqua Community College during the 2009-10 season.
 
Reber got his bachelor degree in social science with a focus in history, as well as a minor in political science from Western Oregon.
 
A 2009 Graduate of Oakland High School, Reber played four years in the program. He was a three-year varsity letterman and helped lead the team to back-to-back fourth-place finishes at the state tournament during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. Reber also competed in four years of football, lettering four times, as well as two years of track & field and one year of baseball.

Reber has a large immediate and extended family - mother Michelle Reber and father Rex Reber; as well as five siblings (older brother Brayden and younger siblings Andrea, Nathan, Colton and Mikayla Reber).
