Kelsie Blachly played all 90 minutes in net for WOU and recorded a season-high six saves.
"We have the ability to be in a game with a team like Seattle Pacific," said head coach Rod Fretz, "but we have to be firing on all cylinders, and today we weren't."
The matches' first goal was scored in the ninth minute on an unassisted goal by SPU's Meredith Teague. She lofted a shot from the top of the penalty box over Blachly's head for the eventual game-winning goal. Shannon Oakes knocked the next two goals in for the Falcons and they would add another for the 4-0 victory.
This was the first of five consecutive conference home matches for the Western Oregon women's soccer team. It will host Central Washington Oct. 18, at 4:00 p.m., Montana State Billings Oct. 23, at 3:30 p.m., Northwest Nazarene Oct. 25, at noon and Saint Martin's Oct. 29, at 3:00 p.m.
"We have to ready for each of our next four home matches," said Fretz. "All four are winnable matches against teams like us that are all clustered together in the middle of the conference standings. This is our opportunity to rise above these teams."
