Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. - The Western Oregon University volleyball team earned its eighth-straight win and improved to 10-1 this season as it defeated Montana State Billings in three sets, 25-19, 25-19 and 25-18, Saturday Sept. 28.
"This was very important for us to win both matches on our road trip," said head coach Brad Saindon. "If we want to contend for the conference title we are going to have to be able to win on the road."
Senior Stacey Bennett led the team, with 11 kills and only one error in 18 attempts for a season-best kill percentage of .556. Lisa Martini and Sharon Peterson each added nine kills of their own as WOU outkilled MSUB 47-33. Amy Herron added 23 assists while Jorden Burrows had 18, giving Western Oregon assists on 41-of-47 kills (.872). No one reached double digits in digs for the first time this season as Brittany Barstad led the team with nine.
The Western Oregon volleyball team will return to Monmouth, Ore., next week to face the Alaska school. WOU will take on Alaska Fairbanks, Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7:00 p.m., then face Alaska Anchorage, Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7:00 p.m.
