Box Score Northwest Nazarene jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game and put the pedal to the metal from there on their way to a 84-49 women's basketball win over Western Oregon on Thursday night in Nampa, Idaho.

The Crusaders improved to 9-5 overall and to 2-1 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with the victory, while the Wolves dropped to 6-8 on the season.  WOU is now 1-2 in league play.

NNU never trailed in the contest and blasted out to a 32-point lead at halftime (51-19).  The hosts would lead by as many as 39 points before settling for the final 35-point margin.

Junior forward Katie Torland scored nearly half of Western Oregon points, finishing with 22.  She also paced the Wolves with seven rebounds.  Sara Zahler hit a pair of three-pointers and finished with eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

On the flip side, Northwest Nazarene pocketed 15 steals, shot 54 percent from the floor and hit six of nine three-point attempts. Janee Olds led five NNU players in double figures, finishing with 15 points and eight rebounds.

"We couldn't match their aggressiveness or intensity and those are things you just can't do on the road," said head coach Greg Bruce. "We are working to become a more consistent team in conference and tonight we didn't do that."

The Wolves will try to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Montana State-Billings for a 2 pm (mst) start against the Yellowjackets.
