Samantha Ward had 13 kills and sophomore
Sylvia Herrold chipped in with 10 but it was not enough as the Western Oregon University volleyball team fell on the road at Northwest Nazarene, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17 and 25-19, Saturday (Nov. 7).
With the win, NNU moved to 15-12 on the season and 8-6 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The loss dropped WOU to 7-19 and 4-11 in league.
Both teams played strong on the defensive side with Western Oregon recording 87 digs and Northwest Nazarene 91.
Danielle English posted a match-high 25 digs to lead three Wolves in double-figures.
Irene Walters and
Sarah Bain each set a career-high for digs posting 19 and 11, respectively. Bain also led the team with 30 assists.
Western used a decisive 12-5 block advantage, led by Ward and Sakala with three, to stay in the match but was also hurt by 33 hitting errors.
The Wolves will wrap up their season Thursday, Nov. 12, at Saint Martin's.
