SAN DIEGO - Devin Powers-Davis delivered a two-out game-ending RBI double in the eighth to lift No. 2 UC San Diego to an 8-7 victory over the No. 30 Western Oregon baseball team Saturday, Feb. 14.

The Wolves (2-4) were leading 7-4 entering the final half inning of the doubleheader before the Tritons (3-1) rallied for three runs to force extra innings. The game tying run scored on an RBI walk by Chris Fung.

"We had them on the ropes," said WOU head coach Jeremiah Robbins.

Shortstop Justin Thornton went 4-for-5 in the game with an RBI and a run scored to lead Western Oregon. Travis Fox continues to be on fire at the plate as he delivered his fifth multi-hit performance of the season by going 3-for-5 with two runs. Justin Speer went 2-for-3 with three RBIs giving him 10 on the year. Joe Pratt also registered a multi hit game going 2-for-4.

Mike Eisenhauer started the game for WOU and got into the seventh before being removed for Nick Morris. For the game, Eisenhauer went 6.1 innings giving up 10 hits and six runs while striking out just two.

"Eisenhauer gutted it out and put himself in a position to win the game," said Robbins. "We thought about going back to (Chad) Lynch but we don't like to throw a guy twice in the same day. We are going to find other options in our bullpen; it is a chance for others to step up."

Steven Brock (0-1) took the loss while Guida Knudson earned the win after pitching a scoreless eighth.

Western Oregon and UC San Diego will play another doubleheader tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 15, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Wolves will start Jacob Pettit in game one of the doubleheader.

"It was disappointing giving them momentum heading into tomorrow," said Robbins, "but our guys are resilient and they will bounce back against one of the best teams in the nation."
