WOU can't slow down the Yellowjackets

MONMOUTH, Ore. - Three Montana State Billings student-athletes scored 20 or more points, and the Yellowjackets hit 15 three-pointers to knock off the Western Oregon men's basketball team 103-95, Saturday (Feb. 13), at the NPE Building.

MSU Billings (11-8, 5-5 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) shot 58-percent from the floor (35-of-60) and from long range (15-of-26) to earn the road win. DeAndre Chambers recorded a game-high 25 points, as he hit 7-of-9 shots from behind the arc and 9-of-13 overall. Brad Hodge added 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting and Lasha Paraghalava chipped in with 20, as he hit five of his eight three-point attempts.

Kyle Long led six Wolves (11-11, 4-7 GNAC) in double-figures with 21 points. Matt Schmidt notched 19 points, while Blair Wheadon had 15 and Josh Johnson added 13 off the bench. Rico Myles also contributed with his fifth double-double of the season, as he scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Tarance Glynn also added 10 points.

MSU Billings overcame a five-point halftime deficit (49-44) by outshooting Western Oregon 63 to 45-percent in the second half. However, the game was tied at 88-88 with less than four minutes to go, but the Yellowjackets put together an 8-0 run over a two-and-a-half minute stretch to seal the victory.

The Western Oregon men's basketball team will continue its homestand next week as the Alaska schools come to town. The Wolves will host Alaska Anchorage Thursday (Feb. 18) and Alaska Fairbanks Saturday (Feb. 20).
