MONMOUTH, Ore.
- The Western Oregon University baseball team received a pair of wins from pitchers making their first starts of the season, as it took both games from Saint Martin's, Tuesday, Apr. 13. WOU won the opener 16-6 behind Cam Nobles and then captured game two 4-1 with Brad Carter on the mound.

The Wolves (22-11, 17-3 GNAC) have now won 12 consecutive games in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and eight straight at home. The losses dropped the Saints (14-20, 9-10 GNAC) to third place in the conference standing, 7.5 games off the pace of the first-place Wolves.

Game 1
Kyle Boe and Daniel Dillard each knocked in four runs and the Wolves exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn a 16-6 win.

Boe went 3-for-4 out of the cleanup spot with two runs scored and four driven in. Garrett Breda, who was also 3-for-4 in the game, connected on his third home run of the season in the first inning and the Wolves never trailed from there.

However, WOU led just 3-2 heading into the sixth inning before putting a 10-spot on the board. Cody Reeves drove in three runs in his two at-bats in the inning and Daniel Dillard added a grand slam for his 12th homer of the season.

Cam Nobles (1-1) went the first five innings allowing just three hits and one run while striking out six and walking six.

"It was a gutty effort by Cam on the mound today," explained Western Oregon head coach Jeremiah Robbins. "Our hitters also came through and picked him up."

Eleven Wolves' batters collected hits in the game and the same number scored a run.

Game 2
Brad Carter (1-1) held SMU to five hits and one run while striking out three in six innings of work to lead WOU to a 4-1 victory. This was the sixth appearance of the year for Carter, but just his first in a starting role.

"Carter did a phenomenal job today," noted Robbins.

The Wolves scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning. After WOU loaded the bases with nobody out, Devon Bouvier singled up the middle to drive in two runs and put runners at first and third. Bouvier then attempted to steal second base and the Saints' catcher threw errantly behind the Wolves' runner at third allowing Aaron Headrick to trot in for the third run of the inning. After Cody Reeves singled Bouvier to third, Grant Glover delivered a sacrifice fly to score him and put the Wolves' up 4-1.

Bouvier, Headrick and Daniel Dillard all finished the game 2-for-3 with a run scored, and accounted for six of the Wolves' 10 hits.

Kirk Lind worked the top of the seventh for WOU to record his second save of the season.

Cody Brooks had two of Saint Martin's five hits.

"These were two quality mid-week wins," said Robbins. "We got good pitching and key hitting, and found ways to win.

"It is good to have a little momentum going into the weekend against a tough Montana State Billings team," continued Robbins. "They will come right at us, but we know what is on the line and we will be focused and ready to play."
