LACEY, Wash.
- The Western Oregon baseball team continued its domination of Great Northwest Athletic Conference opponents this season, as it won its 22nd straight league game with a pair of victories over Saint Martin's Thursday, May 6. The Wolves opened with a 8-3 win in game one and followed it with an 11-5 victory in game two.

The Wolves' 27 wins in conference is the most in the history of the league. With the losses, the Saints fell to 19-28 overall and 14-16 in the GNAC.

In the doubleheader, Grant Glover collected hits in both games to set new Western Oregon (33-14, 27-3 GNAC) and GNAC records by hitting in 28 straight games. He broke the previous record of 26 games, which was held by the Wolves' Joey Price (2002).

Game 1
Michael Ward struck out 10 and tossed a complete game to lead the Wolves to a 8-3 win in game one.

Ward ran into trouble in the first inning, as he allowed three runs and three hits in the frame but settled down thereafter and gave up just one hit the rest of the game. He retired 16 of the final 17 hitters Saint Martin's sent to the plate, and the only runner to reach base on him was on an error. The 10 strikeouts matched a season-high (which he has done on three occasions) as he moved to 6-1 on the season.

WOU scored six runs in the third to erase the 3-0 deficit. The Wolves batted around in the inning thanks to three errors by the Saints. The big blast came from Daniel Dillard, who connected on his school-record 16th homer of the season. Dillard is now within one home run of matching the GNAC single-season record. Western Oregon also received RBI in the inning from Kyle Boe, Cesar Lopez and Jason Moseby.

Boe led the Wolves at the plate going 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Glover, Dillard, Bill Clontz and Brett Davis each collected two hits as WOU outhit SMU 14-4.

Antone Saltvick took the loss for Saint Martin's after giving up six runs (four earned) and six hits in 2.1 innings.

Game 2
Jason Moseby knocked in three runs and the Wolves scored six times in the top of the seventh to win game two 11-5.

Western Oregon took a 5-2 lead behind Blake Keitzman heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Saint Martin's rallied for three runs to knot the game at 5-5.

The Wolves then responded in the top of the seventh by batting around and putting six runs on the board. The go-ahead run came on a suicide squeeze bunt by Bill Clontz to score Kyle Boe. WOU would continue to pile it on from there, as Daniel Dillard scored on a throwing error by the catcher and Garrett Breda and Aaron Headrick each recorded an RBI. Moseby capped off the inning with a two-run double down the left field line to clear the bases.

Cody Reeves connected on his fifth home run of the season in the game and also scored two runs. Breda, Kyle Boe and Grant Glover also crossed the plate two times apiece for the Wolves, who had five extra base hits in the game. Dillard recorded two RBI on a triple in the fifth and finished the game 2-for-4. Breda and Boe each had two singles.

Kirk Lind (5-3) earned the win in relief of Keitzman. After allowing the tying runs in the bottom of the sixth he came back out and set the Saints down in order in the seventh.

The Saints had just seven hits in the game, compared to 12 for the Wolves, but three of those came in the sixth when they tied the game.

Kaleb Wilson was charged with the loss for SMU after surrendering four runs (three earned) and four hits in 1.2 innings. Andrew Elke had two of those hits including a single to drive in the game tying runs in the sixth.
