MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Western Oregon volleyball posted its second straight sweep of the weekend with a 25-21, 25-18 and 25-22 win over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, Oct. 1.
The Wolves (6-6, 5-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) posted a hitting percentage of .269, to backup their .315 hitting percentage from Thursday.
Danielle Reese led the way with 19 kills and just three errors for a .333 hitting percentage.
"Dani was special tonight," explained Western Oregon head coach
Brad Saindon. "Once again she had an All-American type performance. Every time we needed something she came up with the goods. Nineteen kills in three sets is incredible."
Western Oregon also got 10 kills from
Krissi Kemper and 37 assists from
LesLyne Satele.
Megan Triggs led the team with 18 digs.
Western Oregon trailed just four points of the entire match en route to the sweep.
"We played two very tough teams this weekend," noted Saindon. "To get to play at home and win those in straight sets was awesome, and hats off to my team."
The win keeps the Wolves 1.5 games back in the GNAC standings behind Western Washington, Alaska Anchorage and Seattle Pacific, all of whom have one loss.
This was the first time Western Oregon has swept two straight GNAC opponents since 2008.
"We aren't out of the picture yet," said Saindon. "We get everyone one more time. I am fired up for next week and I am just really enjoying this team right now."
Western Oregon will have just one match next week as it travels to Saint Martin's on Saturday, Oct. 8.
