MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon women's basketball team returns to action this week as the Wolves open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a pair of games at home. The Wolves open GNAC play on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7:00 p.m. against Central Washington before closing out the week on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1:00 p.m. against Northwest Nazarene.

Tickets to the conference openers are $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and non-WOU students and can be purchased online at www.wouwolves.com or by calling the WOU ticket office at 503-838-8449.

The Wolves, who have faced a tough non-conference schedule to open  the year, enter the week with a 0-6 mark on the season after falling in a pair of close games at the Dixie State Thanksgiving Invitational. The Wolves fell, 83-76, to Dixie State before closing out the tournament with a tough, 61-59 loss to the Academy of Art.

Western Oregon is led by senior Rylee Peterson, who leads the team with 15.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Jade Haas ranks second on the team at 8.2 points per game while Amber Reade is adding 8.0 points per game for the Wolves.

Central Washington enters GNAC play with a mark of 2-1 overall after the Wildcats defeated Evergreen, 66-50, last week. The Wildcats currently have five players averaging double figures, led by Stacy Albrecht, who leads the team at 12.0 points per game.

Northwest Nazarene enters league action with a record of 4-2 on the season after cruising to a 78-43 victory over Warner Pacific last week. The Crusaders are led by Briaunna King, who leads three players in double figures at 17.8 points per game.

Last year, Western Oregon went 4-0 against the Crusaders and Wildcats to sweep the season series. The Wolves lead the all-time series against Northwest Nazarene, 38-28, while the Wolves are 12-17 all-time against Central Washington.

Following the contest against the Crusaders, the Wolves will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10, when the Wolves travel to Arcata, Calif., to face Humboldt State.
