MONMOUTH, Ore. - Western Oregon got 11 kills from
Samantha Ward and 10 from
Becky Blees to oust Saint Martin's in three sets 25-20, 25-16 and 25-21, on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The win moved the Wolves to 12-8 on the season and 11-5 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. With the loss Saint Martin's fell to 6-17 and 4-12 in the GNAC.
Blees, who is coming off co-GNAC Player of the Week honors, hammered down those 10 kills and committed just two errors for a .320 hitting percentage.

Becky Blees was the player of this match," said Western Oregon head coach
Brad Saindon. "She was only credited with two blocks but she blocked a bunch that they recovered, so very nice job by Becky."
The Wolves also continued their strong defense by holding SMU to a .082 hitting percentage. They have now limited opponents to hitting percentages of -.009, .080 and .082 over their last three matches.
Brenna Peterson, who was making her second straight start for Western Oregon, had a match-high 31 assists and
Megan Triggs contributed with 18 digs.
"It was a hard week for us without LesLyne and Dani, so all things considered I'm very happy with how we played," noted Saindon. "
Brenna Peterson was more in control of her play and keeps getting more experience under her belt.
"We served very well and I thought our passing was terrific," Saindon continued. "I am very happy with this win and we have a big week next week."
The Wolves will close out the regular season at home against the Alaska schools. They will open with Fairbanks on Thursday and then face off against Alaska Anchorage on Saturday. Both matches will start at 7:00 p.m.
