HONOLULU - Mana Hopkins scored 15 points to lead five Sea Warriors in double figures as Hawaii Pacific picked up a 69-45 win over Western Oregon on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Western Oregon could not find the range from deep as it hit just 1-of-14 shots from behind the arc. The Wolves also struggled from the floor overall shooting just 27 percent from the field.
Jade Haas led the team with 12 points and eight rebounds.
The game was back and forth early in the first half but HPU went on a 20-2 run to jump out to a 26-9 lead. Haas would score six straight points shortly before the half to cut the Sea Warriors' lead, to 10 but a jumper by Mikela Thoemmes with a minute left would give HPU a 33-21 lead at the half. In the second half Hawaii Pacific would extend its lead to 27 points before settling on the 24-point margin of victory.
The Wolves won the rebounding battle 41 to 32 but lost the turnover battle 23-14.
The Western Oregon women's basketball team will now go on a competition hiatus until Dec. 29th when it takes on Seattle Pacific in Seattle at 7:00 p.m.
