SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Since defeating Central Washington in overtime, Alaska Fairbanks has lost nine straight games, all by double digits . . . The Nanooks are allowing 77.4 points per game while putting up just 58.8 . . . Senior forward Nicole Bozek (14.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, .434 FG) leads UAF . . . No. 14 Alaska Anchorage is riding a four-game winning streak behind their stingy defense, giving up no more than 60 points in the four games . . . UAA forces an average of 7.9 more turnovers than they commit and are outrebounding opponents by 8.1 rebounds per game . . . The Seawolves are led by junior forward Hanna Johansson (13.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg, .522 FG).

Notes: The Wolves have not lost to Alaska Fairbanks since Jan. 17, 2008 (60-77 at UAF) . . . Prior to Western's recent dominance, UAF had won seven consecutive games . . . The series started in 1976-77 (68-65 WOU win).

THE SERIES VS. ALASKA ANCHORAGE
Record: WOU trails 11-20 (4-6 at UAA)
Last Meeting: UAA 67-43 (1/13/11 at WOU)
Streak: UAA 14
Notes: WOU last beat Alaska Anchorage Dec. 6, 2003 (64-58 at UAA). That victory was also Western's last road win against the Seawolves . . . The Wolves won the first five GNAC meetings . . . The two teams first met in 1976-77 (66-61 UAA victory).

OFFENSIVELY
Western was able to break 70 points against Simon Fraser, the first time WOU has scored more than 70 points since Jan. 15. Against SFU, the Wolves connected on 43.8 percent of their shots.

Against Western Washington, WOU took a GNAC season-high 20 free throw attempts, making 15, tying a GNAC season high. The Wolves made 7 of their 18 three-point attempts against WWU, good for 38.9 percent, their highest percentage since Jan. 6.

DEFENSIVELY
WOU played arguably its best defensive game of the season against Western Washington. The Vikings came into the game shooting 44.1 percent, but were held to just 32.7 percent. WWU made just 3 of their 12 three-point attempts. The Wolves held the Vikings to single-digit assists while forcing 18 turnovers. WWU came into the game with an even 1.0 assist-turnover ratio.

Western played better defense against Simon Fraser, as well, holding the Clan to 42.2 percent shooting after giving up 51.0 percent in their first meeting.

GNAC TOURNAMENT UPDATE
This season will conclude with the inaugural GNAC Tournament, a postseason tournament featuring the top eight teams in the conference standings. The top four teams will host the bottom four teams in the first round. The second and final rounds will be played at the higher seed's home site. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

If the tournament started today, the Wolves would face Alaska Anchorage as the tournament's seventh seed. WOU is just one-half game back of fifth place and one game back of fourth.

NOTEWORTHY PERFORMANCES
Senior guard Sara Zahler recorded weekend totals of 33 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 steals. Zahler made 10 of 24 shots and 10 of 13 free throws. She has now scored 900 points in her career.

Junior forward Rylee Peterson registered totals of 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 blocks. She made 5 of her 8 three-point tries in the two games.

Sophomore guard Jamie Richardson had a combined 18 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. She also connected on a career-best 9 of 10 free throws against SFU and pulled down six rebounds against WWU, also a career-high

Freshman forward Melissa Fowler notched totals of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Against WWU, she shot a perfect 3 for 3 from the field and 5 for 5 from the charity stripe.

NATIONAL STATISTICS (as of 2/6/11)
As a team, WOU ranks in the top 130 in many national statistics, including free throw percentage (74.1; 36), blocked shots (3.7; 69), steals (10.3; 72), three-point field goals made per game (5.6; 118), scoring offense (65.8; 118), and field goal percentage (40.1; 130). There are 294 Division II teams eligible for ranking.

Individually, junior forward Rylee Peterson ranks in the top 200 blocked shots (2.6; 15), field goal percentage (46.0; 96), steals (2.1; 148), rebounds (7.2; 177), and points (14.1, 188). Senior guard Sara Zahler ranks in three-point field goal percentage (40.2; 38) and three-point field goals made per game (2.1; 96). Sophomore guard Jamie Richardson ranks in steals (2.4; 78). There are 500 Division II players eligible for ranking.
