This week:

After a three-game home stand, Western Oregon University women's soccer team will get back on the road, this time heading north for a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches against two teams in Washington. The Wolves will get set to battle Central Washington on Sept. 22nd at 4:00 p.m., and Seattle Pacific on Sept. 24th at 7:30 p.m.

The Wolves:
The Wolves come into this weekend's match ups with a record of 2-2-2 overall, and 1-0-1 in conference play. During their last home stand, they tied Concordia, 0-0, blanked Northwest Nazarene, 3-0, and fought to a 1-1 draw against Montana State Billings. By not losing the three matches, they matched a feat that has not been matched since 2001. They accomplished this by defeating Portland State, 1-0, Humboldt State, 2-1 in overtime, and George Fox, 3-0.

Marina Austin was a big factor for Western Oregon's, 3-0, shutout against Northwest Nazarene as she scored a season high two goals. She now leads the Wolves in points (four), and goals (two).

Rigtrup is having a season to remember:
Senior goalie, Brittney Rigtrup, has been on track to set new records early in the season thus far. She has already tied her season-high of three shutouts, a record she set as a freshman in 2007. The three shutouts were set back-to-back matches the first time she has done this in her career.

She did not allow a goal for 235 minutes, and only needed to make six saves during her three shutouts.

A look at Central Washington:
Central Washington comes into the match up with a record of 2-2-2 overall, and 1-1-0 in GNAC play.

“We look to take this match, just like the other matches we have played so far,” said Western Oregon's head coach Steve Ancheta. “Were just going to take it one game at a time.”

Carson McKole leads the team with three goals, 17 shots, and seven points.

The Wolves and Wildcats have an all time record of 13-9-4 record against the Wildcats, as WOU leads in the series. Last season the Wildcats and Wolves split the season series, with the Wolves winning the last matchup in Monmouth, 4-0.

A look at Seattle Pacific:
The two-time defending GNAC Champions, Seattle Pacific Falcons, enters Saturday's matchup with a record of 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They still have one match against Saint Martin's on Sept. 22nd, before they welcome WOU to their home pitch.

The Falcons have won their last four matches. They were able to shutout Nebraska-Omaha, 5-0, Western Washington, 1-0, and Simon Fraser, 2-0, during their current win streak.

“We look to attack SPU with the confidence we've had all season long,” explained Ancheta. “We can't play nervous, we have to play hard to show them that we are not a team to be overlooked.”

Ali Martin currently leads Seattle Pacific with seven points, and three assists, while Heather Young paces the team with three goals.

SPU and WOU currently hold a 2-18-0 overall record against one another, with SPU leading all-time.
