MONMOUTH, Ore. – Coming off a huge win over Seattle Pacific, the Western Oregon women's basketball team returns to action this week as the Wolves travel to face Western Washington on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 7:00 p.m. before a meeting with Simon Fraser on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2:00 p.m.
Western Oregon (5-16 overall, 4-7 GNAC) enters the contest following its biggest win of the season after the Wolves defeated Seattle Pacific, 79-74, for their first win over the Falcons since 1982. In the victory,
Rylee Peterson scored a career-high 32 points as she hit 10-of-16 shots from the field and all 10 free throw attempts to lead all scorers.
Lorrie Clifford came through with a career-high 19 points, including six straight for the Wolves down the stretch while Haas registered 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
Peterson continues to lead the WOU attack as the senior forward leads the team with 16.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Haas is the other Wolves player in double figures, averaging 10 points per contest.
Western Washington enters the weekend in second place in the conference standings with a 7-3 league mark (13-5 overall) after the Vikings defeated Simon Fraser, 70-61, last week. Corinn Waltrip leads Western Washington at 12.6 points per game as the Vikings average 73.2 points per game while holding opponents to 65.0 points per contest.
After falling to the Vikings last weekend, Simon Fraser enters the week with a mark of 11-7 overall, 6-4 in league play as the Clan are 5-1 in home games this year. Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe leads the Clan at 16.9 points per game.
Earlier this season, Western Oregon fell to Simon Fraser, 66-53, before dropping a 66-61 decision at the hands of Western Washington.
Following this week's action, Western Oregon will return home to host Saint Martin's on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7:00 p.m.
