MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon volleyball team picked up its fifth-straight victory as the Wolves cruised to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-13) sweep over Simon Fraser in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match on Saturday night. With the victory, WOU improved to 16-5 overall, 9-3 in league play, while the Clan fell to 4-16, 1-12 in GNAC action.
“It feels very good as a coach to see your team be in control throughout the match,” head coach
Brad Saindon said. “The entire team played well tonight and it is great to see them playing so well at the right time of season. It was a great week and we need to keep the momentum moving forward.”
Danielle Reese led the way for WOU as the senior outside-hitter led all players with 13 kills while hitting .458 for the match. Reese picked up her second straight double-double as she added 15 digs while
Samantha Ward has seven kills for the Wolves.
The WOU defense did its part as well, limiting Simon Fraser to just a .117 attack percentage. The Wolves recorded six blocks on the night, led by
Hannah Deede and
Cherene O'Hara as each recorded three block assists.
LesLyne Satele led all players with 22 assists as
Jordin Ramos added 13 assists for the Wolves in the victory.
Jessica Young led Simon Fraser with nine kills.
WOU will go after its sixth-straight win as the Wolves travel to Billings, Mont., to face Montana State Billings on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6:00 p.m.
