MONOMUTH, Ore. – In its final home match of the season, the Western Oregon volleyball team cruised to a straight-set, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-9) victory over Saint Martin's in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match on Thursday night. With the win, the Wolves pick up their 20th win of the season and move to 20-6 overall, 13-4 in league play, while the Saints fall to 6-17 overall, 3-14 in league play.

“It was great to send out the seniors with a win in their final home match as they have meant so much to our program,” head coach Brad Saindon said. “It was a big win as we are fighting for our postseason lives and I was proud of the way our team played on such an emotional night.”

The Wolves put together a strong defensive effort to go along with a solid offensive attack in posting the straight-set win. WOU held SMU to a negative attack percentage as the Saints hit only -.044 for the match while Wolves posted an attack percentage of .323.

Defensively, WOU registered nine team blocks in the match, led by Krissi Kemper with five block assists while Hannah Deede added four. The effort held SMU to a negative attack percentage in two-of-three sets as the Saints did not score more than 17 points in a set during the match.

Danielle Reese led a solid WOU offensive effort as the senior led the team with 12 kills while hitting .345 for the match. Senior Samantha Ward and Kemper added nine kills each while nine separate WOU players recorded at least one point during the match.

After trailing early in each of the first two sets, WOU led from start to finish in the third as the two Wolves seniors put the finishing touches on the match. With Ward serving, WOU took the return pass from SMU and set-up Reese for the match-clinching kill as the Wolves picked up their 15th straight win against the Saints.

The match marked the final home contest for Ward and Reese as the senior duo picked up the 66th win of their careers.

WOU will look to complete the season sweep of the Saints when the Wolves travel to Lacey, Wash., for a meeting with Saint Martin's in the regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7:00 p.m.
