MONMOUTH, Ore.  – The Western Oregon women's basketball team opens the 2012-13 regular this season as the Wolves host the WOU Phoenix Inn D2 Shootout, beginning on Friday, Nov. 9. The Wolves open play at the invitational on Friday at 3:00 p.m. against Hawai'i Pacific before a meeting with Cal Baptist on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 12:00 p.m.

Lorrie Clifford is the lone senior on this year's squad as the guard played and started in every game last year, finishing the season with 7.8 points per game while leading the team with 57 assists.

Junior Melissa Fowler is the leading returning scorer for the Wolves as the junior forward averaged 8.3 points and 3.8 rebounds during her sophomore season.

Amber Reade (G, 5-8, So., 5.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg), Dana Goularte (F, 6-0, So., 5.0 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 10 blocks) and Elise Miller (G, 5-6, So., 2.4 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.3 spg) also return for WOU as the Wolves welcome eight newcomers to the squad.

Hawai'i Pacific, finished the 2011-12 season with an 18-10 record overall and 12-6 in the PacWest. The Sea Warriors are picked sixth in the league's preseason poll and return seniors Melody Ladrido (9.3 points per game) and Susannah Walmsley (6.1 points per game).

Cal Baptist finished 22-7 overall last season and finished second in the PacWest with a league record of (14-4). The Lancers are once again picked to finish second in the league, led by senior guards Myriah Hicks (14.0 points per game).

In other games at the invitational, Saint Martin's will face Cal Baptist on Friday at 1:00 p.m. as the Saints will face the Sea Warriors on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Following the invitational, WOU will close out the weekend when the Wolves meet Hawai'i Pacific for a second time on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2:00 p.m.
