MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon women's basketball team returns to action this week as they partner with Wolves Against Breast Cancer for the annual “Play 4Kay” game on Thursday, Feb. 16, when they host Alasaka Fairbanks at the New P.E. Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the game is $6 for adults, $4 for non-WOU students and seniors and $3 for those who wear pink to the event.
WOU and Wolves Against Breast Cancer partner for this important event as the annual “Play 4Kay” game is a global, unified effort for a nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
Western Oregon enters the contest looking to continue its winning ways after the Wolves picked up a 67-66 victory over Saint Martin's last week. Freshman
Elise Miller scored a career-high 19 points, including seven in overtime, to lead the Wolves to their second victory over the Saints this year.
Senior
Rylee Peterson continues to lead the Western Oregon attack as the forward leads the team at 16.3 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per contest. Senior
Jade Haas ranks second on the squad at 10.0 points per game.
Alaska Fairbanks enters the game with a mark of 6-19 overall, 2-13 in league play, after the Nanooks fell to Simon Fraser and Western Washington last week. Nicole Bozek leads the way for the Nanooks, averaging 16.1 points per game.
In the meeting earlier this year, Alaska Fairbanks picked up a 69-68 win over the Wolves in Fairbanks. WOU leads the all-time series, 20-15.
Following the game against the Nanooks, Western Oregon will close out the home portion of the schedule when the Wolves face Alaska Anchorage on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 7:00 p.m.
