ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Western Oregon men's basketball team saw three players score in double-digit figures, but could not find a way to put a stop to No. 21 ranked Alaska Anchorage as they fell, 83-70, Saturday, Feb. 18th.
Blair Wheadon shot 4-of-6 from behind the arc for a team leading 22 points.
Kyle Long contributed 16 points in the game, while
Kolton Nelson put in 13 points on the scoreboard for the Wolves.
Western Oregon (17-8, 10-6 GNAC) entered Saturday's contest winners of three straight games, but fell cold in the second half to split on their Alaska road trip. The Wolves struggled to put a stop to the Seawolves attack as UAA put the game in its hands thanks to a 12-0 run to increase their lead over WOU by 14 (70-56). Western Oregon would not pull the game back within single digits before the final buzzer would sound.
The Wolves looked strong as the first half came to a close thanks to a 13-5 run, giving Western Oregon a 35-30 lead at the end of the first 20 minutes.
Taylor Rohde lead four Seawolves in double figures with 25 points. Alaska Anchorage (20-5, 14-3 GNAC) outscored the Wolves by 18 points at the free throw line.
Western Oregon will now head home for their final home series of the season as they get set to host Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, Feb. 23rd with tip off at 7:00 p.m.
