Second half run lifts NNU over WOU

NAMPA, Idaho - Lorrie Clifford had 15 points and Rylee Peterson added 11 but it was not enough for Western Oregon to overcome a second half surge from Northwest Nazarene as they fell 65-50 on Thursday, Feb. 23.

The Wolves battled back from an early 18-3 deficit and a 25-20 halftime deficit to tie the game at 31-31 early in the second half. After the teams traded baskets NNU put together an 11-2 run to take control of the game. Briaunna King led the Crusaders with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Western Oregon also got eight points off the bench from Melissa Fowler. The Wolves held NNU to 38.5 percent shooting in the game, however, WOU connected on only 35 percent of its shots.

The Western Oregon women's basketball team will close out the 2011-12 season on Saturday (Feb. 25) at 7:00 p.m. at Central Washington.
