MONMOUTH, Ore. – Winners of four-of-five, the Western Oregon men's basketball team returns to action to close out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 2:00 p.m. against Central Washington. The game will serve as Senior Day for five WOU senior-student athletes:
Jordan Freelander,
Kyle Long,
Jamaal Veal,
Blair Wheadon and
Kris White as the group will be honored prior to the start of the game.
Admission to the regular-season finale is $6 for adults and $4 for non-WOU students and seniors. WOU students are admitted for free with a valid ID. A coupon is available for the game on www.wouwolves.com, which provides $2 admission per person for the holder and guests.
The Wolves, ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA West Regional Poll, enter the contest with a mark of 18-8 on the season, 11-6 in league play, after WOU claimed a 67-56 victory over Northwest Nazarene on Thursday. Long led the way in the victory with 17 points as Wheadon added 15 and became the GNAC all-time leader in steals with three, pushing his career steals total to 215.
Wheadon leads three Wolves players in double figures, averaging 15.9 points per game.
Kyle Long ranks second on the squad at 13.5 points per game while
Kolton Nelson is scoring at a 10.5 points per contest clip.
Central Washington enters the contest with a mark of 13-12 on the season, 7-10 in conference play, after falling to Saint Martin's, 99-84, on Thursday. Lacy Haddock leads five Wildcats in double figures, averaging 15.8 points per game.
Following the regular-season finale, Western Oregon will open post-season play as the Wolves travel to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference playoff as the Wolves will open play on Wednesday, Feb. 29. WOU will enter as either the three of four-seed in the tournament and will play at either 5:00 or 7:30 p.m.
