STANISLAUS, Calif. - Cal State Stanislaus scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to earn an 8-7 win and spoil Western Oregon's bid for a third straight series win in California on Sunday, Feb. 26.

Western Oregon originally overcame a 4-1 deficit with four runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to take a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Jordan Long then cut the Wolves' lead to one on a solo home run to lead off the ninth. After an out was recorded, the Warriors had three straight singles to tie the game. The winning run would score the winning run on an error by the Wolves' pitcher on an attempted suicide squeeze.

Kirk Lind batted for 7.1 innings to keep the Wolves in the contest and even left with the lead. After allowing a grand slam and three hits in the third inning, Lind would allow just two hits and one run the rest of the way. He retired 10 straight batters after giving up a single to lead off the fourth and finished the game with six strike outs.

Justin Manci had five RBI, including the grand slam for Cal State Stanislaus.

Western Oregon outhit the Warriors 13-10 in the contest, and had four extra base hits to the Warriors' two. WOU also left nine runners on base compared to just four for CSUS.

WOU will be off next weekend before starting GNAC play with a four-game home series against Northwest Nazarene starting on Friday, Mar. 9.
