MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon women's basketball team returns to action this week as the Wolves host Saint Martin's in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7:00 p.m.
The Wolves enter the week looking to break a two-game slide after Western Oregon fell to Western Washington and Simon Fraser last week.
Rylee Peterson leads the way for the Wolves and ranks second in the league at scoring at 16.6 points per game. The senior forward also leads the team and ranks 11th in the league with 6.9 rebounds per game.
Western Oregon's
Jade Haas ranks second on the team with 10.1 points per game while
Melissa Fowler is averaging 8.4 points per contest for the Wolves.
Saint Martin's enters the week with a mark of 7-16 overall, 2-11 in league play, after the Saints lost to Simon Fraser and Western Washington a week ago. The Saints are led by Chelsea Haskey, who leads the team at 13.0 points per game.
The contest marks the second meeting between the two teams this year as the Wolves defeated Saint Martin's, 67-53, in Lacey, Wash. Despite the loss to the Wolves earlier this year, Saint Martin's still leads the series, 26-13.
Admission to the game is $6 for adults and $4 for non-WOU students and seniors and can be purchased online at www.wouwolves.com.
Following the game against the Saints, the Wolves will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7:00 p.m. when they partner with Wolves Against Breast Cancer in the “Play 4Kay” game to raise awareness about breast and women's cancer.
