NAMPA, Idaho – Melissa Fowler led the way for the Western Oregon women's basketball team with 16 points; however, it would not be enough as Northwest Nazarene used a big second-half run to claim a 78-59 victory over the Wolves in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday night. With the loss, WOU falls to 6-9 on the season, 1-4 in league play as NNU improves to 10-2 overall and 2-2 in conference action.
After a solid first-half of action saw the Wolves trail only by six at the break, the Crusaders used a 12-0 run out of halftime to grab a commanding, 53-35 lead with 15 minutes remaining. WOU was unable to recover the rest of the way as NNU went on to claim a 19-point win.
Fowler led the way for WOU, going 6-of-12 from the floor to finish with 16 points while
Chantel Divilbiss finished with 14 points for the Wolves.
Mariah Durian came off the bench to add 12 points for WOU as the Wolves finished the game 22-of-50 from the floor.
Chelsie Luke led three NNU players in double figures with 19 points as the Crusaders shot 46.3 percent (31-of-67) from the floor. Megan Hinston added 17 points as Taylor Simmons poured in 15 to help lead the Crusaders to victory.
WOU will look to rebound from the loss when the Wolves travel to Ellensburg, Wash., to face Central Washington on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 7:00 p.m.
