MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Western Oregon women's basketball team returns to action this week as the Wolves resume conference play when they host Saint Martin's on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 5:15 p.m.

WOU, looking to break a two-game losing skid, enters the game with a mark of 6-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play after road losses last week to Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington.

Freshman guard/forward Mariah Durian remains the Wolves leading scorer, averaging 13.8 points per game. Other players averaging double figures include senior guard Lorrie Clifford (12.5 points per game), who also leads the team with 2.9 assists per game, and sophomore forward Dana Goularte (10.7 points per game). As a team, the Wolves are averaging 64 points per game.

Defensively, the Wolves have done a solid job, holding opponents to just 39.7% from the field while giving up an average of 68.3 points per game. Goularte has anchored the defense, leading the team in rebounds (6.8 per game), steals (38), and blocks (19).

Saint Martin's enters the game with an overall record of 9-7 and a conference record of 2-4. They split their games last week, defeating Central Washington before losing to Northwest Nazarene, both road games. Junior forward Chelsea Haskey leads the Saints in scoring, averaging 14.1 points per game, and is the only SMU player averaging double figures.

Offensively, the Saints have averaged 56.4 points per game while shooting 36.8% from the field, while giving up 61.3 points per game and holding opponents to a 37.9 shooting percentage from the field.

Last season, the WOU won both contests against SMU and faces them again on the road in Lacey, Washington on Feb. 16.

Admission to each contest is $6 for adults and $4 for non-WOU students and seniors while current WOU students are admitted for free with a valid identification card.

Following tonight's game, the Wolves return to action next week, hosting Alaska Anchorage on Jan. 24 and Alaska Fairbanks on Jan. 26.
