MONMOUTH, Ore  - After picking up its first conference victory of the season, the Western Oregon women's basketball team returns to action this week as the Wolves travel to Nampa, Idaho, for a meeting with Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 6:00 p.m. before closing out the week in Ellensburg, Wash., against Central Washington on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 7:00 p.m.

WOU enters the week with a record of 6-8 overall and 1-3 in league play after the Wolves downed Montana State Billings, 73-65, last Saturday. Lorrie Clifford led the way for WOU as the senior guard finished with 18 points as interim head coach Renae Gregg picked up her first career collegiate victory.

Freshman Mariah Durian continues to lead a balanced WOU attack as the forward leads three players in double figures at 13.9 points per game. Clifford ranks second on the squad at 13.1 points per contest while Dana Goularte is averaging 11.1 points per game for the Wolves. As a team, WOU is averaging 64.4 points per game while shooting 39.1 percent from the field.

Defensively, the Wolves continue to rank among the league's best as WOU ranks fifth in field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to just 39.2 percent from the floor. Goularte leads WOU on the defensive end with 17 blocks and 36 steals while averaging 6.9 rebounds per game.

Northwest Nazarene enters the contest against the Wolves with a mark of 9-2 overall, 1-2 in league play after the Crusaders defeated Central Washington last week. NNU has won four games in a row and are led by Megan Hinston as the forward is scoring 17.9 points per game. The Crusaders are limiting opponents to just 61.5 points per game and 37.6 percent from the field.

After falling to the Crusaders last week, CWU enters this week's action with a record of 5-6 overall and 0-3 in league action. Jessica VanDyke leads the Wildcats at 11.0 points per game as CWU is averaging 66.8 points per game.

Last season, WOU split contests with NNU and CWU as the home team won each time the squads met.

Following the road trip this week, WOU will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 19, when the Wolves host Saint Martin's at 5:15 p.m.
