MONMOUTH, Ore. – The No. 7 Western Washington University volleyball team proved its ranking with a three-set road win at Western Oregon University Saturday, 25-22, 25-14, 25-14.
The Vikings (13-1, 6-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) remained unbeaten in conference play and won their sixth consecutive contest. WWU finished with a .250 hitting percentage, while holding the Wolves to .052.
Western Washington's Kayla Erickson, who is second in the GNAC in kills, finished with a match-high 12. The junior finished with a .333 attack percentage. Taylor Dillard, the conference leader in assists, had all 37 for WWU Saturday. Another conference leader, Samantha Hutchinson, had 20 digs. Bryce Larson and Jennica McPherson added 11 and 10. Erickson and Emily Boerger were both in on four blocks.
The match featured 10 ties and four lead changes. The first set went back-and-forth, as seven of those ties and three of the lead changes were in the opening game. Neither side led by more than three points in the set. The Wolves led 22-21, before WWU scored the final four points.
Charene O'Hara led Western Oregon (5-12, 2-5) with eight kills.
Becky Blees hit .200 with seven kills.
Jordin Ramos had a double-double with 13 assists and 10 digs.
Megan Triggs had a team-high 17 digs.
Hannah Deede had a pair of service aces.
