MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon baseball team returns to action this week as the Wolves travel to Rohnert Park, Calif., for a four-game series against Sonoma State as the series opens on Friday, Feb. 8, at 1:00 p.m. The series against the Seawolves continues with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11:00 a.m. and concludes with a single game on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 11:00 a.m.

WOU enters the series with a record of 2-1 on the season as the Wolves won two-of-three from Cal State Stanislaus last week. Scott David led the Wolves offense, batting .357 with a run scored and three RBI as WOU captured the final two games of the three-game set for the series win. Chris Bradshaw and Daniel McNabb each scored three runs to lead the Wolves as McNabb led WOU with three RBI.

Newcomer Spenser Watkins earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance against the Warriors as he enters this week with a 1-0 mark after throwing seven innings of shutout ball in the Wolves 4-0 game two win over CS Stanislaus. As a team, WOU held CS Stanislaus to just 14 runs in the series as the Wolves enter this week with a 2.96 team ERA.

Sonoma State enters the weekend series with a 1-0 record after a 6-0 victory over San Francisco State on Tuesday. Steven Filippi and Sam Montgomery each had two hits and a run scored in the win while George Asmus combined with four Sonoma State pitchers in the shutout.

Last season, Sonoma State finished the season with a record of 28-25 and dropped four-of-five games to the Wolves.

Following the series with the Seawolves, WOU will return to action on Friday, Feb. 22, when the Wolves travel to Lewiston, Idaho, for the start of a four-game series against Lewis Clark State at 2:00 p.m.
