Track & field shows well at Willamette Invite

Wolves establish a number of personal and season bests at the meet.

WILLAMETTE INVITE - COMPLETE RESULTS

SALEM, Ore. – The Western Oregon track and field team has a solid showing at the Willamette Invite on Saturday, highlighted by Brett Campbell's effort in the 100-hurdles as he won the event in a time of 15.42.

Campbell ran a solid, clean race to claim the invite victory as he finished .06 seconds ahead of Kevin Robinson (SW Oregon CC), who finished in a time of 15.48. Eric Gaines also ran a strong race in the event, finishing in a personal record time of 16.01 to finish in seventh.

In other men's action, Jeff Howard continued his strong outdoor season as he finished in third-place in the 200-meters with a time of 22.12 while earning a seventh-place finish in the 100-meters, completing the race in a time of 11.18.

Alan Roy led WOU in the 800-meters as the middle distance runner established a new personal record with a time of 1:56.98, finishing in 10th-place.

In the javelin throw, Jordan Griffith and Neil Gravatt each established new personal records in the event as Griffith finished in fifth with a toss of 173-3.50 while Gravatt finished in sixth with a throw of 172-0.

On the women's side, Laura Copenhagen highlighted a solid showing by the Wolves as she finished in fifth-place in the 800-meters with a time of 2:18.80.

Sprinter Audrey Hellesto established a pair of season bests at the invite, finishing in sixth-place in the 200-meters with a time of 25.96 while running the 100-meters in 12.85 for 14th-place.

In the field events, Emmi Collier highlighted the Wolves efforts as she finished in fourth-place in the shot put with a mark of 42-10.75.

WOU will return to action on Friday, April 11, as the Wolves host the annual John Knight Twilight at McArthur Field. Field events are slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. with track events scheduled to start at 3:50 p.m.
